In 1 Samuel 13:23  " And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash." The Phillistines were coming to attack Israel.
Sometimes God gets great victory and glory in the midst of a "Michmash" which we commonly relate to as a mess.
In Samuel 14 Johnathan , King Saul's son decides to attack the Philistines garrison there. His first "mistake" was he did not tell his father.
Ichabod's ( meaning the glory has departed) brother , Elis grandson was wearing  the priests Ephod ( a priestly garment ).
Johnathan's second mistake was " the people did not know where he was gone" .
Also to note was that  " neither a sword nor a spare was found with any the people of Israel, except Saul and Johnathan" and they were about to be invaded by a highlt trained army, armed with chariots and weapons of war. A formidable sight.
Johnathan's confession was to his armour bearer "The Lord is not restrained to save by many or by few".
Johnathan came upon a band of Philistines  and the Phillistines said " Behold , Hebrews are coming out of the holes where they have hidden themselves " I don't blame them as they had no armourments for war.
Johnathan and his armourbearer attacked, and the result was "That first slaughter which Johnathan and his armour bearer made was about 20 men within about half an acre of land. And there was trembling in the camp, in the field , and among all the people . Even the garrison and the raiders  trembled , and the earth quaked so that it became a great trembling."
Next Saul heard it, and brought out" the Ark of the Covenant and the Israelites rallied and attacked " even the Israelites who were with the Philistines and had joined them to fight Israel quickly changed sides and fought against the Philistines"
First we have to step out and then the Ark appears.
Even all the Israelites who had hidden themselves in the hill country came out to fight .
And the Lord delivered them that day , and the battle spread "beyond Bethaven"
Praise God , sometimes we hear of a Johnathan  and it stirs out hearts , revivals often start there.
I was speaking to Beau yesterday . He is a guy in the building I work in and God touched his heart recently. He told me that he was at work and told his boss he is a Christian and his boss was amazed. Let me be quite clear, Beau does not look like a choir boy , (I have to be careful as he will read this). He told his boss that he did not know why he was so amazed as Jesus was like his boss a carpenter.
Then there was a delay on the concrete truck coming where he was working and the guys were upset. Beau went out and prayed and soon  after the foreman came to him and said "did you just pray " he said "yes" and the guy told him the concrete truck company had changed there plans and the concrete was coming .
I know all of us are serving the Lord and ministering but this word about Johnathan seemed so timely as I read it this morning and talked to Beau yesterday.
