In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another:

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds shook and the temple was filled with smoke.
Isaiah 6:1-4

In 1979 I was in church when I fell into a trance and saw visions of the third heaven, similar to what the Apostle Paul saw. I was blessed to stand before the throne of God and gaze upon “the ancient of days”.

I was a long way from the throne and was looking up at God at a forty-five degree angle. He was huge and “fearsome”. I knew straight away that it is a good idea to stay on His good side.

A King is just, but he must rule with authority and protect His kingship at all cost. He can’t do this with just love and kindness – this will be seen by many of his enemies to be a weakness that could be exploited. Satan and the demons are terrified of God Almighty. Imagine God has ruled the universe for eternity and will do so for eternity. He has had to deal with some interesting and despot characters throughout history, and that’s just the history we know of.

What I saw was that God the Father does not give his heart to just anyone – because He knows what is in man. I can only say what I saw, and my thought was that I would not want to antagonise him. Maybe He showed me this as my upbringing was totally without any parameters. I basically did what I wanted from a young age.

I had never seen anyone worshiped before. It was a fearful sight. There were millions and millions of people singing his praises and worshiping him. It was like He was saying, “That’s right, I am God. Worship me”.

I noticed in this context that God wanted all the glory and did not want to or would not share it with anyone. Anything great that happens in our lives is really because God has ordained it and brought it to pass. He deserves all the praise and glory.

Next, I noticed that God could only think in terms of faith and had never doubted or worried about anything. He could do anything. Nothing was impossible to Him. We should think like that. Unbelief is a sin. It stops us inheriting the promises of God. We must confess and renounce sin, as “all things are possible to him that believes”.

Next I saw God look at me. In a couple of seconds he read every thought I had ever thought, was ever going to think, knew everything I had ever done in my life and was going to do. He knew how many hairs I had on my head, how many cells in my body, everything ….

God did not look at my face but looked at my heart. He is interested in our innermost thoughts and motives. It is impossible to hide anything from Him. Yet, despite our imperfections, He loves us.

God has seen it all: Genghis Khan, all the Pharaohs of Egypt, the Kings of Babylon, and all the Kings of England. He still thinks of Adam and Eve. He knows man intrinsically. He seeks out those whom He wants to be destined to be His son’s bride for eternity. If we accept Jesus as our Lord and saviour we will be seated at the marriage table of the Lamb and enjoy eternity with His son Jesus.

At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.
Revelations 4:2

From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.
Revelations 4:5

For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; “He will lead them to springs of living water.”
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”
Revelations 7:17

Then a voice came from the throne, saying:
“Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!”
Revelations 19:5

Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them.
Revelations 20:11

He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
Revelations 21:5

Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.
